KJ will be playing in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines this year to make his debut to this years West Coast swing. KJ is no stranger to Torrey Pines; he's played there over 10 times, yet he gives the same response about the golf course every time: the fairways are tough to hit.
The ocean breeze combined with narrow fairways makes Torrey Pines an incredibly difficult golf course, but that isn't all. The roughs are a sticky bermuda that makes anyone's life who misses the fairway a living nightmare, thus scoring at this golf course can be a very tough task.
KJ has had some trouble at this course over his past appearances, but he finished top 10 shooting -7 on the South Course on the first round, which put him in the lead with Brandt Snedeker.
KJ has a lot of confidence about this week as he is using the new Callaway Big Bertha that has given KJ tons more accuracy off the tees, and he changed back to his world famous Fatso SuperStroke Grip on his Odyssey putter with which he won all eight PGA wins with (last week at the Sony KJ tried out the Odyssey Tank but claimed that the heavy weight made it hard to control the distances on such quick greens).
He will arrive in San Diego on Monday night and will not be playing in the Pro-Am. Instead he will play practice rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare for the big week. KJ tees off on the South Course, hole #10 at 9:30 a.m. PT for round 1 and 10:30 a.m. PT on hole #1 at the North Course
